Born-digital PDFs (exported from Word, Google Docs, InDesign, etc.) usually keep headings, paragraphs, and simple tables with high fidelity in Basic mode. Scanned or photographed pages need Advanced OCR — without it, output can be empty or garbled. Complex multi-column magazines, irregular merged tables, and math equations may need a quick review in Office after download. Always preview critical contracts and financial tables at 100% zoom.
Use Basic for digital PDFs with a real text layer. Use Advanced OCR for scans, faxes, phone photos of documents, and older archives. Advanced uses more Pro credits and takes longer, but it rebuilds selectable text before Office export — essential for scanned invoices and contracts.

Yes. Cross-format Office conversions run through a PDF intermediate automatically (for example Word → PDF → Excel). Layout fidelity depends on the content — tables convert best when they are clear grids; free-form Word prose will not become a perfect spreadsheet.
Conversion maps one format’s structure into another — it is not a pixel-perfect screenshot. Text and simple tables are typically excellent. Decorative multi-column layouts, forms with checkboxes, and equations may need touch-ups. PDF to image (PNG/JPG) preserves visual appearance page-by-page when you need a visual archive.

Basic mode reads the existing text layer. Scans often have none — switch to Advanced OCR and reconvert. Cleaner, flatter scans (good lighting, less skew) improve OCR accuracy.
