Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information PDFTrusted processes when you use pdftrusted.com, why we process it, and what choices you have. It works together with our Terms of Service, Security page, and Cookie Policy.

“Personal data” means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you — for example an email address or account ID. Document contents you process may also include personal data about you or other people; you are responsible for having the right to process those files.

PDFTrusted operates the Service at pdftrusted.com. For privacy questions, email [email protected].

If you process files that contain other people’s data (a class list, a client contract, a shared scan), you decide whether you are allowed to run that tool. We process those files only to deliver the feature you started — not as a public library of other people’s documents.

Depending on how you use PDFTrusted, we may process:

• Account data — email, name or display name if you provide it, authentication tokens, and account settings
• Billing data — plan status, invoices, and payment metadata from our payment provider (not raw card numbers on PDFTrusted servers)
• Support messages — what you send to [email protected] or Contact
• Usage & technical data — approximate location from IP, device/browser type, pages or tools used, error logs, and free-use counters needed to run limits
• Document job data — files or extracted text required for a tool you run (see section 4)

We do not ask for more than the feature needs. We do not sell your personal data or document contents.

Browser tools

Many everyday tools (merge, split, compress, organize, watermark, page numbers, protect, unlock, sign, and similar) are designed to process the file in your browser session. For those tools, the document is not uploaded to PDFTrusted servers as part of the job. Tool pages show a Secure & private badge when that path applies.

Secure conversion & helpers

Some tools need a short processing step outside the browser — for example Office/OpenDocument converts, HTML/URL/EPUB captures, OCR, and document helpers that summarize, chat, or generate questions. Those jobs transmit the file or the text needed for the request, process it, return a result, and clean up temporary job artifacts. The product should make it clear when a file will leave your device before you continue.

When a helper uses a model provider, text needed for your request may be sent to that provider solely to complete the feature you started. We do not sell those files, and we do not use them as a marketing dataset. We do not claim control over every upstream model provider’s internal systems beyond the contracts and settings we configure for the product.

We process personal data to:

• Provide and improve the tools you use
• Create and maintain accounts, sessions, and free/paid limits
• Process payments and prevent fraud or abuse
• Answer support requests and security reports
• Meet legal obligations when required
• Operate essential cookies/local storage — and optional analytics only if enabled and disclosed in the Cookie Policy
• Send product or billing notices related to your account (marketing email only if you opt in where required)

Legal bases depend on where you live and may include contract performance (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, basic product metrics), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation.

We share data only as needed to run the Service — not as a product we sell. Typical categories:

• Authentication — Supabase for sign-in and session management
• Payments — Lemon Squeezy for checkout and subscription billing
• Hosting & infrastructure — cloud hosts and workers that serve the site and run conversion or helper jobs
• Analytics — Google Analytics 4 for aggregated traffic and product usage (see Cookie Policy)
• Model providers — when you use AI-style helpers that need a model to answer
• Authorities — if the law requires disclosure
• Business transfer — if PDFTrusted is sold or reorganized, data may move with the business under continued protections

Providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer safeguards offered by those providers (such as standard contractual clauses) in addition to this policy.

Account and billing records are kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for invoices, disputes, and legal retention. Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve the issue and for ordinary business records.

Document jobs are designed for finish-and-download. Temporary processing artifacts from secure conversion or helpers are deleted after download when possible, and any leftovers are removed within 1 hour. We do not automatically keep processed PDFs as a permanent personal archive. Free-use counters for anonymous visitors live in local browser storage and can reset when you clear site data.

Logs and security signals may be kept for a limited time to debug outages and abuse, then reduced or deleted under normal retention practice.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, to object to some processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to ask for a portable copy of data you provided. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country.

To exercise a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify you control the account before we change or delete data. Some records (for example invoices) may need to be kept even after an account closes, where the law requires it.

PDFTrusted is built for everyday document work, including school uploads. It is not directed at young children. If you are under the age required to consent to online services where you live, use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s permission. Students follow the same privacy rules as every other user.

We may update this policy when the product or the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material updates may also be noted in the product or by email if we have a working address for you. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy for future use of the Service.
